my first junk journal

It looks like I fell off the bandwagon with the december "Plan with me challenge". Oh well. That's okay.

I got more into art journaling lately. A fiber friend made a junk journal for me, and I used it to stick all the accumulated lose papers and business cards in it, with a little journaling and drawing as well. While using that journal, I became more and more interested in making a junk journal myself.

I watched this tutorial (Youtube Link) and since I had most of the materials here, I just gave it a try.

For the cover I used cardboard from packaging an a flour paper bag for the cover paper. This turned out so nice, I regret not having saved more flour bags!
For the inside, I decided to just use different papers I had. I wanted to go with more junky contents at first, but I just didn't have enough of them. I picked out a mix of lined paper from notepads, squared paper, blank paper and a few patterned scrapbooking papers, and some magazine pages.

I made four signatures, each of them had about 15 sheets of paper in it, what made 60 pages. The whole thing has 238 pages! I was really surprised!

sewing the signatures in turned out to be a pain in the ass.. I used sewing thread and went around the pages several times, and it was hard to get the needle through so many pages and in the exact right spot. But I finally did it, and the signatures are staying in place and the whole thing is feeling sturdy and not wobbly at all. win!

I stapled a rubber band to the back cover to keep the book closed, and glued some paper stars to the front cover and also used paper stars to write the page numbers on the patterned pages.
I decorated some pages, and I numbered all of them, so this would make a nice bullet journal, for people who don't mind that there's a mix of colours and patterns inside the book.
