The New York Beauty and me
About a year ago, in June of 2007, I joined a quilting group to participate in an international "New York Beauty" Block of the Month.
The nice thing about that was, that a german quilters forum and an american quilters mailinglist did this together and many joined both groups.
The initiator of it all was Christina Carl, wo designed beautiful blocks!
One half year I sewed two blocks per month, and then suddenly the initiator and designer had disappeared. Her mailinglist was closed, the website was closed, and we were left on our own with the quilt half done.
That was also the time when in both groups some women stepped forward and offerend to design alternative blocks so that we could complete the project.
For our forum, the Quiltfriends, it was Morgaine77 and Newyorkbeauty who designed a completely new Quilt.
The blocks were sized to match the old BOM, and a second size was also offered..
But I didn't make a block for a while, after the old BOM ended so abruptly, I just moved on to other projects.
So, yesterday I started over and promptly sewed one block in the wrong size, using up a scrap of beautiful fabric with butterflies on it.

Back to sewing the NYB on my beloved Bernina machine :-))
Here's my design wall as it is now:

And this is the block I won't be able to use:

But I'm sure the block will find another purpose. Maybe I'll use it in the drumbag which I intend to make for more than a year now!
